hERE'S A FEW QUOTES FROM OUR VOLUNTEERS

Picture
I can’t even tell you how much I love @the.volunteer.network and everyone that runs it.

When I tell you these people saved my life, I’m not being over dramatic, when I was 14/15 I was getting in trouble with the police, drinking getting into fights I was horrible (you’d not think that now,
Hopefully) but little old me at 16 walked into their office to be nothing but nosey. (which was in the quedam in Yeovil they’re in Glastonbury now) and asked what they were all about. From that one meeting it didn’t stop until i was 21 I volunteered doing lots and lots of events for 5 years and I’m still super close with the whole team now.

After that first meeting myself and my friend were invited on an all expenses paid trip to Ibiza (no I’m joking we went to pgl) it was one of the best experiences I’d even done. We zip wired out of a tower, done quad biking and all sorts.
A few events I’ve taken part in, .⭐️Badminton Horse trials. .⭐️Home farm festival multiple times
.⭐️Godney gathering .⭐️ bath And Yeovil half marathon .⭐️ bath and west show lots of times .⭐️ iron man a few times .⭐️ weeks away.

NOT TO MENTION, they put me forward for a PRIDE OF SOMERSET AWARD AND I WON!! Amongst lots and lots of amazing young people.
I just can put into words how amazing this charity is and how much they change people’s lives for the better. They’re a big family and always look out for each other. If you’re 16 or above not in work or school and want to give volunteering ago.
After leaving school with no GCSEs I decided to join The Volunteer Network in one of their programs kickstart. During this I gained English and math functional skills qualifications as well as a diploma in work practices which then lead to being an intern in their workplace which helped me to understand what is expected in a work place With all this experience I now have a secure job. The volunteer network has help me to gain confidence to be able to move forward in life.
I've been on various days from working with the RSPCA to environmental volunteering and even dragon boat racing where I didn't know any of the other volunteers or the majority of the staff and being led by the example of the staff at TVN I have learned the skills I needed to be more sociable in these situation from starting conversations to keeping in touch with new friends.
Recently with my health dealing with the setbacks much better I have done things I never thought I would have done again. I went camping which was a huge leap from not going out in the evenings. It was only because the staff were so vigilant and supportive keeping me warm and checking on me throughout the day and night that I felt comfortable enough to go. I made new friends and took part in activities like Zip wires that I didn't think I ever would. TVN has helped me to live a normal life just like I did prior to my disability. I have been enabled to feel comfortable and confident in my self which has always been something I cherished as I'm a very independent person.
After feeling a bit cut off from the world and distant from others TVN and the volunteers have shown me that I can still be a functional part of a team and I can still be useful.
The TVN has helped me gained amazing skills which I have used though out professional career, I would personal like to thank everyone over the years who has supported this great and wonderful charity the work you guys do is fantastic, thank you for all the great memories and the amazing friends I've made along the way.
You guys helped me do things which I would never do, And also made a lot of new friends :) thanks a lot to sue, Anna, Scott, tannas, nick, and the rest of you brilliant guys who I haven't mentioned, go continue your infectious joy and happiness throughout
