Level 2 & 3 certificates in Youth Work Practice The course is available to anyone aged 19+ who wishes to work in a youth support work setting or wants to progress onto further qualifications and training. When will I start the course and how long will it take? This course starts on 7th March and runs for 1 year with the last day for coursework submission being the 1st March 2018. This is a one-year self-study course. accredited by the Open College Network (West Midlands) and is endorsed by the Education Training Standards (ETS) Committee England on behalf of the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) for youth and community work. There are two mandatory training days and 12 optional support/ supervision days during the year What will I study? There are two options 1. Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice 2. Both the Level 2 and Level 3 Certificates in Youth Work Practice. Note: Achieving the Level 2 certificate is a compulsory part of the Level 3 certificate as it covers units required for the Level 3 Certificate Mandatory areas covered within the course include:

Safeguarding in a Youth Work Setting
Young People's Development
Engaging and Communicating with Young People
Working with Challenging Behaviour in Youth Work Settings
Reflective Practice in a Youth Work Setting
There are multiple optional units for students to choose from to make up the required credit value to complete the course, and students will be supported to choose units that reflect their current youth work needs or future career requirements. Units available include:
Exploring faith and community values within youth work
Supporting young people that are Asylum seekers
Anti-Discriminatory Practice in Youth Work
Work with Young People to reduce Involvement in Anti-Social and or Criminal Activity
Support Young People who are Looked After or in Care
Principles of Supporting Young People in relation to Sexual Health and risk of Pregnancy
Understand how Youth Work can Support Young People who are Experiencing Poverty
How is it assessed? You will be continually assessed via a selection of online evidence that includes case studies, reflective logs/diaries, assignments, essays and practice files. All assessment tasks require evidence of your learning and understanding of theory and practice. Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course? Applicants should have experience of working with young people in a youth worker role and are currently undertaking work with young people. All applicants will be required to attend a short interview. The programme also requires students to comply with all Volunteer Network policies including Equality and Diversity and put into practice Equality of Opportunity. You also must hold a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for your current youth work practice. What are the course fees? The total cost of this course is £1250 for both certificate or £850 just for the Level 2 certificate If you are aged 19+ you could also choose to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees, enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn't dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don't start until you have finished your course and earn over £21,000 per year.
